Did you use a
plastic straw today?

IF YES

IF NO

Are plastic straws really worth the damage they do to the planet?

Recycling isn’t as green as you think it is.

It takes a lot of energy to recycle plastic.

There are thousands of kinds of plastic, but to make it easy, consumers put all their plastics into one or two bins. Recycling centers have to sort, chop, clean and compress plastic. All of this takes a lot of energy.

Dyes in plastics can be hazardous

Sometimes hazardous plastics can get mixed in with recyclable plastics. When this happens, an entire batch of recylced plastics can be deemed unusable and thrown into a landfill.

Join the
SKIP THE PLASTIC STRAW
movement.

LET’S MAKE SMALL CHANGES TOGETHER

1. Say NO to disposables whenever you order a drink.

2. Carry your own reusable straws so you can skip the plastic straw

3. Encourage local restaurants to enlist a “ask before giving” plastic straw policy – or to stop using them altogether.

4. Petition for parks, beaches, and other areas near you to ban plastic straws.

When you skip the straw you’re taking action to end single-use plastic straws altogether!
